Vultures are in a crisis, one that might impact us all in that we are about to lose a functional bird guild, one that previously e.g. proved to reduce the spread of zoonotic diseases. For almost all vulture species population trends are alarming and conservation action plans have been formulated. For the Eurasian Black Vulture (Aegypius monachus) reintroductions have been put forward as a conservation action to reconnect recently isolated populations.
