The LIVCOL database is a complete tool for the daily management of the living collections. The software used is PROGRESS, a fourth generation relational database management system. It runs on a Linux platform and internal users can access it using a SSH service such as putty.exe.
Data concerns accession (number, source, provenance, location, cultivation, ...) as well as taxonomy (plant name, synonymy, APG status, geographical range, several conservation ratings, invasive rating, cultivation techniques, toxicity, pharmacology, ...). Other data are related to individual, institutions, ... Some more specific information are related to seed storage and seed germination, seed and plant material exchange, photography, herbarium, ...
The web version of LIVCOL and PLANTCOL are extracted from the central LIVCOL database, using PHP and PostgreSQL technologies.
