The importance of gastrointestinal protozoa in captive non-human primates

Research output: ThesisDoctoral dissertation - Doctoral dissertationpeer-review

Diarrhoea is one of the leading problems requiring veterinary care in captive NHP. Gastrointestinal disorders may be caused by various factors, including nutritional changes, stress and/or pathogenic organisms. The infectious pathogens involved are bacteria, viruses, protozoa and helminths. A risk disease assessment will not only be beneficial from an animals perspective, since these organisms are also of concern in public health.
