Phaeoperenniporia gen. nov. is described based on morphological and multilocus (ITS-n28S-nSSU-tef1-rpb2) phylogenetic data. Phaeoperenniporia is distinguished from Perenniporia by (dark) brown tube layers and the differentiation pattern of the vegetative hyphae, which develops into brownish,
stout arboriform hyphae. Four new combinations are proposed: Phaeoperenniporia nigra, inhabiting the western edge of the Guineo-Congolian rainforest, and known so far from Gabon and Cameroon, and Ph. amazonica, from the Amazonian rainforest, and Ph. gomezii and Ph. fulvo-umbrina, which habitat is poorly known.
