In the course of an ongoing survey of Agaricales (Basidiomycota) from the tropical African mountain range, a new species of Ripartitella, R. degreefii, is described based on phylogenetic, morphological, and ecological evidences from specimens collected in the medium elevation forest of the Albertine Rift in Democratic Republic of the Congo and in São Tomé.
