From January 8 to April 14 2024, Botanic Garden Meise (Belgium)
organized the exhibition entitled "Plant Hunters of the 19th century - Forgotten figures of Belgian horticulture"
By-product of the Scientific Collections on the Move (SciCoMove) project funded by EU, this exhibition was set by the Library, Art and Archives and Public Services teams of Meise Botanic Garden, with the collaboration of Henry Engledow.
Funded by the EU, Scientific Collections on the Move (SciCoMove) Provincial museums, archives and collecting practices (1850-1950) studies the history of scientific collections in paleontology, anthropology, botany and applied sciences.
Based on recent research in history of science and on scientific collections, the project shifts focu from large museums to smaller ones, to present a more complex, less centralized and less hierarchical vision of scientific exchanges.
Dr Denis Diagre-Vanderpelen, Curator of the exhibition and partner of the SciCoMove project at Meise Botanic Garden, invites you to follow him on a tour of the exhibition...
