EI-MEET: Monitoring eiwitconsumptie bij de Vlaamse Overheid 2024-2025 Milieu- en klimaatimpactanalyse

Research output: Book/ReportReport

  • Laura Switten
As part of the Green Deal Protein Shift, Ecotarian analysed the environmental impact of food procurement by the Flemish government’s catering services. The impact indicators selected for this analysis are climate change, water impact, land use and eutrophication. Overall, we see that all four impact indicators are very strongly driven by the meat product group and, to a lesser extent, by fish. The report provides further details and outlines the key factors behind the figures. Although this report highlights a number of specific items to illustrate impact mechanisms, the greatest potential for reduction lies not in individual items, but in structural shifts in protein sources that are in line with the Green Deal Protein Shift.
