The importance of healthy soils and soil care is increasingly on the international and European agenda. Various local and regional initiatives are also underway in Flanders that contribute - directly or indirectly - to healthier soils. The Soil+Zaken program of the Open Space Platform has launched a joint study on opportunities and gaps to build good soil care more strongly into Flemish policy. This study aims to provide insight into current and future (policy) initiatives, with the main objective of identifying critical leverage points for increased soil care in Flanders. Precisely because soil as a transversal theme touches so many policy domains and social actors, an approach of co-creation and systems thinking was chosen. The focus here was on two complementary sub-systems with different land uses, namely agriculture and the urban environment.
