Bodemdatabank-STAT: Koppeling van statistische bodemgegevens aan de bodemkaart gebaseerd op de bodemdata van de DOV-bodemdatabank

Research output: Book/ReportReport

Area-wide (soil) information is essential for e.g. regional budgeting of carbon stocks, water flows or nutrient flows. In this study, different methods for statistical processing of soil data into area-wide geodatasets of soil properties were listed and evaluated. This analysis showed that digital soil mapping (DSM) based on point observations of soil properties and area-wide predictor layers was the most appropriate. Area-wide grid datasets (resolution 10 x 10 m) for modeled soil properties were then run through DSM. In each case, grids are available for 5 soil layers (0-10, 10-30, 30-60, 60-100 and 100-150 cm). The different geodata sets of soil properties with sufficiently high R² values (texture fractions and pH H2O and pH KCl) were integrated into the DOV environment and can also be accessed via the virtual soil analysis tool in the online DOV explorer. Currently, it was only possible to calculate modeled soil properties for the basic soil mapping data (1945-1975). This was the last detailed area-wide soil sampling in Flanders. The amount of more recent soil data was still insufficient to generate modeled soil properties. When more recent soil data become available in the future, the virtual soil analysis will be extended to include grid layers based on recent soil data.
