This report examines the protein consumption of Flemish civil servants. Based on purchasing data from 2024 and 2025 provided by the agency Het Facilitair Bedrijf, the ratio of plant-based to animal-based proteins was analysed for the various locations where Facilitair Bedrijf is responsible, amongst other things, for catering for the Flemish government. The proportion of plant-based proteins at Het Facilitair Bedrijf rose by 1.2 percentage points between 2024 (43.4% plant-based and 56.6% animal-based) and 2025 (44.6% and 55.4% respectively). Although there has been a sharp increase in the purchase of products from the core plant-based group (almost 38% more volume purchased in 2025 compared with 2024), the relative share of this product category compared with the other categories remains relatively small.
